R.A.R.A Takeover
To coincide with the London Design Festival on the weekend of the 21st of September Hackney-based makerspace R.A.R.A. (the Redundant Architects Recreation Association) is taking over Lower Stable Street Market at Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross.
Fifteen different R.A.R.A members will each take a stall, selling a range of locally designed, artisanal goods: handbuilt furniture, glazed ceramics, bound notebooks, illustrations, alternative maps and clothing—all produced in the workshop at R.A.R.A in Clapton.
Families are invited to enjoy free activities across both Saturday and Sunday, including clay modeling and illustration. Meet local makers, pick up some basic skills through playful handicrafts, and take your creations home.
R.A.R.A is London's oldest open-access workshop, currently celebrating its fifteenth year. Initially set up as a collaborative for underemployed architects following the 2008 financial crisis, the space has since grown to facilitate coworking and the firing of ceramics. R.A.R.A is proud to provide members with the equipment, inspiration and community to foster their creativity and gain skills in their chosen craft. Today over sixty practitioners, hobbyists and professionals alike, make up R.A.R.A’s membership.
